Limetree recommends these top 5 experiences whilst living in Middlesbrough as a Teesside University Student!
- Attend an MFC football match at the Riverside Stadium!
The life blood of the town, Middlesbrough Football Club.
Football fan or not, the ultimate cultural experience can be found here where the town comes together in unity.
Join the hoards of passionate fans & get behind the boys in red & white.
Tip: Look out for discounted deals throughout the season, as students may have the opportunity to attend a match for as little as £5-10. #UpTheBoro #UTB – www.mfc.co.uk

- Eat a Parmo!
The famous delicacy of Middlesbrough, ‘The Parmesan’ aka Parmo.
People travel from far & wide to get their Parmo fix as no where does it better than here on our doorstep where it originated – we have even heard stories of people packing these in their suitcases to take on holiday!
Those of you who are from Boro will know your way round a Parmo all to well, however, to all those Parmo virgins it would be criminal not to sample one whilst living in the town.
Consisiting of deep fried breadcrumbed Chicken fillet, Bechamel sauce & melted cheddar Cheese all finished off under the grill, served with chips, salad & a good helping of Garlic Mayo – why not try a hotshot!
Restaurants & Takeaways selling the Teesside staple can be seen from most street corners around the town, however, for the best we highly recommend spending a few extra pennies & heading down to the locals favourite joint, CP.
Recommendation: Central Park Restaurant – www.cafecentralpark.com

- Take a ride on the iconic Transporter Bridge!
It doesn’t get more iconic than The Tees Transporter Bridge, which has been Teesside’s number 1 landmark since opening in 1911.
The bridge is a proud symbolisation of Teesside’s Engineering & Industrial heritage & to this day is the longest serving transporter bridge in the world.
Recommendation: To see a piece of history head down to take a ride across the bridge – if you are feeling daring, why not book a bungee!

- Explore the micro pubs of Baker & Bedford Street, whilst attending the Orange Pip Market on the last Saturday of every month!
In recent years, Middlesbrough has seen the exciting development area of Baker Street & Bedford Street go from strength to strength.
Fancy a change from the standard student nights, then pop down here to sample some craft beers at one of the characterful micro pubs! For food, why not try one of the quirky eateries – Barbarossa do great wood-fired Pizzas .
On the last Saturday of every month Baker Street & Bedford Street play host to the orange pip market, a popular Drink & Artisan Food fare.
This always brings in the crowds & makes for a great atmosphere – a highly recommended & fun day out!

- Head to the Countryside to climb Roseberry Topping!
Fancy getting out of the town & into the countryside for some exercise & stunning panoramic views? Then this is our top pick.
Famous in the area & a popular trekking spot, thousands of people each year set off from Newton under Roseberry car park with Roseberry toppings peak in their sighs!
This will no doubt get the heart pumping, but if you keep on going until you reach the top you will find some amazing views for all those Instagram snaps – you may even be able to see your student accommodation in the distance!!
Tip: Take a few tinnies for the journey as a well-earned reward for your achievement!
